ADDED: two original clippings taken from dutch newspapers, being orbutuaries, of which one with author's portrait. BUUR, PD, 1886. Lively recollections, of a dutch colonial indonesian civil servant, an Asstant-Controleur (Toewan Aspiran), in with his Macassarese office-assistant Toewan Anwar plays an important role. Author was then posted at Bone, S.Sulawesi, 1922-1926, and supplies interesting information on daily life and events in his region, incl. still interesting information on the civil service, and on the Macassarese common population and Nobility. Good to very good copy. (some light fraying to spine-ends of dustjacket).
